Mursal Mohammadi is a visual storyteller with a focus on documentary and personal narrative projects. Originally from Afghanistan and currently based in Toronto, Canada, Mursal’s work centers on themes of identity, gender, and displacement.

She graduated from the University of Delhi with a degree in Multi Media and Mass Communication and has participated in various visual storytelling workshops, including Visual Storytelling by UNHCR India and Narrative & Documentary workshop by VII Academy. Notable among her previous projects are “Home and Belongingness,” featured in a zine published by UNHCR India, “How Can One Abandon Love?” for the 2021 Winter Afghan Digital Scholarship Award focusing on Governance & Gender, and “In Between Spaces” for VII Academy. Mursal’s photography delves into the complexities of identity and gender dynamics, aiming to initiate conversations about how these aspects influence our lives and experiences. She is also an advocate with UN Yuwaah India, using advocacy and writing to address inequality and socio-issues within her community. Mursal firmly believes in the transformative power of photography and writing to foster connection, break barriers, and promote understanding and empathy. She is passionate about creating awareness on issues close to her heart and actively engages in advocacy and writing to address inequality and socio-issues within her community.
